Welcome to the Terry Terrier Invitational!
Welcome to the Terry Terrier Invitational.
We invite only the best teams from the United States and all parts of Ontario to take part. In the past few years virtually all of the participants have been from outside the Toronto area, which means if you show up for this tournament you will not be playing teams from the Greater Toronto Hockey League. You will be playing teams from Northern, Central and Eastern Ontario or from Michigan and New York state.
Each team is guaranteed 4 games with five teams in each division in a round robin format. The two top teams played for the championship.
The 2010 tournament will start on October 8 and end on October 10, which means our Canadian teams will be able to spend Thanksgiving Monday at home with family. We will have six divisions, Minor Atom, Atom, Minor Peewee, Peewee, Minor Bantam and Bantam.
Thanksgiving is a time when we celebrate our good fortune. We think it’s also a time to salute those who have accomplished more than most of us can imagine, which is why every year we take a portion of the entry fees and donate it to the Easter Seals Fund. Over the years we have given more than $25,000 to our local Easter Seal campaign.
Each year during our opening ceremonies we make a contribution to Timmy or Tammy and we encourage everyone to attend the festivities. It’s a great to see how much joy your small gift or contribution can make. During the last two years we have also held a demonstration of Sledge Hockey, which has been a great success.

Terry Terrier Tournament Rules & Regulations/ 2010
These rules must be checked by a representative of your team one week prior to the tournament. If there is a conflict between rules here and rules in the tournament program, rules in the tournament program take precedent.
- CHA/GTHL Game Rules will apply. Players must be carded to their respective teams in accordance with CHA rules.
- Players’ certificates are required as proof of player eligibility. Cards or official league registration documents must be presented to Tournament Officials before each team’s first game (photocopies are not acceptable). Teams must report to the Registration Office one hour prior to their first scheduled game.
- Under extraordinary circumstances (player illness, injuries, for example) the tournament chair or his representatives may allow a goalie to participate who is not carded with the team during registration . Permission must be granted before the player takes to the ice.
- Suspensions Notice of all suspensions during the tournament will be forwarded (with a full report of the circumstances) to the players’ regular league officials. The tournament Rules/Discipline committee may require players and team staff to appear at hearings into matters that result in suspensions. GTHL Rule 14.13(d) A Player or Team Official who is suspended in a tournament game shall commence serving the suspension in the next following tournament game. If the suspension is fully served before the tournament is over, the Player or Team Official may participate in any remaining tournament games and there will be no carryover of the suspension into League games. However, if the suspension is not fully served by the time that the tournament ends, the Player or Team Official must serve the number of games remaining in the suspension in subsequent League games (whether regular season or playoff).
- Composition Of Teams Each team may register twenty (20) properly registered and affiliated players per game, however, only eighteen (18) players, (2) goaltenders and sixteen (16) skaters, may dress for each game.
- Mandatory Equipment Helmets, throat guards, face masks and skate guards are compulsory for all players. Face masks and helmets, as approved by CHA (Canada), HECC(USA) and IIHF (International) must be worn during this tournament.
- Centre Line Offsides (GTHL Rule 10.2, 2005-6) For all categories and divisions, only the bluelines will be used in determining offisides. The ride line will not apply for offside passes.
- Format: All Divisions Five teams will compete in each category, each team will play a four game round-robin series. The first and second place teams will play in a Championship game.
- Times and Conditions Of Play Warm-up time will be determined by the referee. Teams not ready to start play at the scheduled time and/or when the referee calls the players to center ice for the initial face off will be subject to a delay of game penalty and possible forfeiture of the game. All teams must be ready to play fifteen minutes before their scheduled game times.
- Tie In Round-Robin Standings
In the event of a tie at the end of the round-robin series, for any position, the following procedures will be used to break the tie:
- In the event two teams are tied, the winner of the round-robin game between those teams will take the higher position.
- If still tied, the team with the most wins takes the higher position.
- If still tied, the team with the best goal average will take the higher position. The goal average of a team is to be determined by dividing the total number of goals ‘for and against’ into the total goals ‘for’, with the team having the higher percentage winning the higher position. (Example: FOR – 10 goals; AGAINST – 4 goals; 10 divided by 14 = 0.714%)
- If still tied, the team that scored the first goal in the round-robin game between the teams, will take the higher position.
- If still tied, a single coin toss will determine the higher position.
- In the event a tie exists between three or more teams, goal average (as determined in 8.3) will decide the position of all teams tied.
Duration Of Games

Atom 12 - 12 - 12

From the start of the 3rd period onward, if the spread in the score is 5 goals or more at any time, the game shall be running time. If the goal spread in the score reverts to a 3 goal difference, the game clock will return to stop time unless the score becomes a 5 goal spread again, in which case the running time will resume. In the championship game only each team will be allowed one thirty second time out any time during the third period.

Nikky Henderson
2007 Provincial Easter Seal Ambassador
Yannique (Nikky as she prefers) Henderson brings an extremely positive outlook to her role as Provincial Ambassador. This 13 year-old, Toronto native is passionate about sharing information with others about all disabilities - those that are visible and those that are not so obvious. She feels compassion for those individuals with disabilities who are unable to share their feelings about the struggles they face on a daily basis.
Born eleven weeks premature, Nikky has Cerebral Palsy, Spastic Diplegia.
Although she has a relatively mild form, she has difficulty walking and must use braces. She credits her parents Sheline and David with being very supportive and always pushing her to do more. Constantly focusing on what she is able to do, Nikky went skiing for the first time last winter.
Nikky’s favourite pastime is music - particularly Hip Hop and R&B - and anything relating to music. A musician herself, Nikky plays the clarinet and loves to sing. When she’s not listening to music, Nikky likes to keep informed about social issues. She enjoys watching the news, researching on the internet and gathering information about current events. Nikky is also an enthusiastic basketball fan, with the Toronto Raptors and Chris Bosch at the top of her list.
This grade eight student has an extremely gentle manner and is adored by her two-year old brother André. In the future she hopes to “do anything involving music”. During her term as Provincial Ambassador Nikky is looking forward to raising money and getting the word out about how Easter Seals helps children and youth with physical disabilities. Her advice to others: “Pursue your dreams - you can do anything you want!”
